The bizarre Life of Arndt von Bohlen und Halbach

Dokumentation, 45 Minuten.
Buch und Regie: Manfred Uhlig, Hanns-Bruno Kammertöns

Jeder kennt Krupp. Über ein Jahrhundert prägte der Essener Konzern deutsche Geschichte. Industriegeschichte. Kriegsgeschichte.
operationen.

Manfred Uhlig und Hanns-Bruno Kammertöns, Autor des Buches "Der letzte Krupp" (Verlag Hofmann und Campe), haben das Leben von Arndt von Bohlen und Halbach anhand von Tagebüchern und Gesprächen mit Freunden recherchiert.

Everyone knows the name Krupp. The Essen-based enterprise has set the tone of German history for more than one century - industrial as well as war history. The names most mentioned in association with the rise and fall of this family dynasty are those of Friedrich, Alfred or Alfried Krupp. In most publications, however, there is one name missing: the name Arndt von Bohlen und Halbach. He was the "last Krupp". What sticks in memory about him is only the picture of a playboy - a good-for-nothing spending his family's money wantonly - who was closer to the party circles in Marrakech than the Krupps and their empire in the Ruhr back in Germany. In the documentary, the growth in the country of the economic miracle is compared to the lifestyle of Arndt von Bohlen und Halbach. Little is known about the dark side of his life: his inhibited homosexuality, his drug addiction and the hazardous cosmetic operations.

Manfred Uhlig and Hanns-Bruno Kammertöns, the author of the book "The last Krupp" (published by Hofmann und Campe), investigated the life of Arndt von Bohlen und Halbach based on diaries and conversations with friends.
