Michael Fraentzel was born in 1978 in Zwickau. He studied philosophy and history in Leipzig and Manchester/England. After graduation he worked as intern at the ZDF and the publisher Reclam. Michael Fraentzel also worked as researcher for Spiegel TV. In August 2006 he started a traineeship at ECO Media and after having absolved it, he is working as author and producer on documentaries and reports on behalf of ZDF, ARD, 3sat, NDR and ARTE. Michael Fräntzel was awarded the “2. Otto Brenner Preis für kritischen Journalismus” for the documentary “Töten per Joystick” (with John Kantara).
