Jazzport. The Film

DVDs, each approx. 45 minutes
Production: Syrinx
Written and directed by Stephan Lamby

The Jazzport Festival in Hamburg has been one of the contemporary music highlights in Northern Germany for over ten years, staging performances by leading jazz and pop musicians. Commissioned by the festival organizer Jazz & More and Technics/Panasonic, the Hamburg-based DVD agency Syrinx has produced documentaries on the Jazzport Festival for three successive years (1999-2001). Stephan Lamby wrote and directed these films. They show far more than the mere concerts. They illustrate, above all, the life of the musicians on the road.

These DVDs (in 1999 the first DVD-Audio worldwide, in 2001 in 96 kHz surround sound) include, among others, performances by Ruben Blades, Pat Metheny, Taj Mahal, Garbage, John McLaughlin, Les McCann, Incognito, Sandy Dillon, Stanley Clarke, Nils Petter Molvaer, PJ Harvey.
